The fact that I'll be turning 18 in 2 days is really quite daunting...

Life has honestly zoomed past too quickly, next thing I know.. I'll be married with kids. xP

However, I'll look forward to being able to do ANYTHING legally! muahahh!-- ah scrap that, I don't have the guts to be such a rebel.. I'm more of a "fun-sponge". xP

But Note-To-Self:

Work Hard, Play Harder ^^*~

This will probably be my last blogger entry at the tender age of 17. haha. =))
I'll see you again when I'm officially EIGHTEEEEEN! whoop whooop!

Daul Kim IMed Close Friend Just Hours Before Her Death

The Daily Beast reports that Daul Kim, who was found dead in her Paris apartment last week in an apparent suicide, instant-messaged with a close friend on the morning of Thursday, November 19, just hours before her death.
She was depressed, she wrote, according to a transcript of the chat seen by The Daily Beast. She and her boyfriend had just had another brutal physical fight. She’d punched him in the face; he’d yanked her hair. But she was afraid to leave him, afraid to suffer the agony of being apart. The last time they separated, she hadn’t been able to eat, dropping from 112 to 99 lbs. Her friend begged her to leave town, book a job, call her mother. No, she said. She’d miss her dog. She ended the conversation abruptly, saying she was going off to clean the house.

Hours later, her body was discovered by her boyfriend. This week, Kim's family closed her blog to the public and questioned whether her death was really a suicide. Concerns have been raised over how quickly French authorities came to this hypothesis.
Some are speculating about the effect her Korean background may have had on her emotional well-being. The Daily Beast continues:
“Daul was the face of Korea on a worldwide scale, and when someone represents Korea on that level, there is pressure,” says Joy Yoon, Kim’s friend and a fellow Korean. “Though Daul had an extremely bright future ahead of her, I don’t think she could cut loose from her background and the pressures of it. The loneliness she must have felt must have been suffocating. Did her agencies really have her best interests at heart? I know she wanted stability and somewhat of a normal life and even complained about it. Isn’t that a sign? A cry for help?”

The model is said to have left a suicide note.

Ulzzang: Lee Jung Ha

If you don't know what an Ulzzang is, it is bascially a Korean slang term for "best face" and this is typically used to describe flawless Korean girls/guys who post selca/professional pictures of themselves on the net earning their title as an Ulzzang.

And when I say 'flawless' I mean.. smooth white skin, huge eyes, and petite in size (for girls anyway). But most of the time, these pictures are heavily photoshopped making them appear very alien-like. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Ulzzangs, but sometimes, their pictures can look really unnatural.

In fact, I find some Ulzzangs inspiring in terms of photography and fashion. Each Ulzzang is different in style, and I usually find myself admiring their creativity as well as their beauty (regardless of whether they've gone under the knife or just the odd photoshop). I never knew a such simple shot of them sitting in a cafe can look so alluring? xP

So for my first Ulzzang post, I'm going to introduce you my favourite Ulzzang, Lee Jung Ha. Despite the fact I hardly know anything personal about her, her pictures really stood out to me.

Isn't she just so doll-like?? As well as having the title as an Ulzzang, she also models for an online Korean clothes store [will find out what the address is].

Many girls aspire to look/become like Ulzzangs, and they, along with Japanese Hime/Gyarus, are the sole reasons as to why 'Circle Lens' have become such a huge sensation all throughout Asia--but I think I'll leave this topic for another post. =))

In Remembrance of Daul Kim

Daul Kim was a South Korean model who regularly appeared in high fashion magazines and frequently modelled for Karl Lagerfeld, Vivienne Westwood, Chanel, Alexander McQueen and Christopher Kane. Despite her success, her career was shortlived when she was found dead at her apartment on the morning of 19th November 2009.

Model Daul Kim was found dead in Paris this morning, her agents at Next confirm. "She was a top model and a great friend to all of us at Next. Please respect her family’s privacy at this time of sadness. We will all miss her very much," they said in a statement. The cause of death remains unknown at this time, but a source tells the Cut the 20-year-old committed suicide. She will be missed.

She really was an inspiration to many. Her blog, iliketoforkmyself radiated her off-the-wall personality, and it really is such a shame she died so young. I guess, despite having so many international friends, and a blossoming career, no one really saw the soul beneath her pictures.
She could have been a real force in the Korean, if not international, fashion and art world.

"If you weren't modelling, where would you like to be?"
"I would like to be in a happy place."

I hope she found her happy place.

G-Dragon for VOGUE

G-Dragon has always had an eccentric fashion taste, he's not afraid to try new things, and that is what makes him unique. This month's Korean VOGUE photoshoot certainly proves GD's versatility in modelling and as an artist.

Check out his 'Wild' Concept below

CL Outfit: UPDATE

I've been searching around, and I found out that CL's jumper is from an Ulzzang's [Miki] korean clothes store! Damn, I thought it would be from somewhere international, since 2NE1's clothes are usually from places far away.. even TOPSHOP! =))
Oh wells, at least I know where its from.^^~

MAMA Awards

So today, I spent my morning watching the Mnet Asian Music Awards show live from S.Korea. I have to say, it was really quite exhilarating knowing the fact I was watching a live broadcast from Korea, since I normally just browse around Youtube. xP

But a BIG CONGRATS to 2NE1 who snabbed 4 awards that night!! =))

- Music Portal Mnet Award
- Best Female Artist
- Best MV
- Best Song: I Don't Care

They definitely deserved it, and I'm so proud of them! =))
Check out their "21st Street Musical"

CL's outfit and hair is LOVE. That is seriously one cool jumper-- So my style. xD

Whilst 2PM was performing,  I was hoping that Jaebeom would pop out of nowhere and start dancing. But, disappointingly, JYP appeared instead...

These guys got me all emotional when they were presented with the "Artist of the Year" award. They really are such an amazing group. Lets hope that Jaebeom will return soon to complete 2PM and not leave it as 1:59PM. T_T

Last, but not least.. G-Dragon--my one and only. xD [Look at his gigantic Mohawk and his black hair?!] His stage with Taeyang was AWE to the SOMEE. =)) So charasmatic and HOT! ;)

His Heartbreaker album won the "Album of the Year" award! Despite all the controversies involving him plagarising other songs, GD certainly deserves this award for shedding blood, sweat and tears for his 1st solo album.
His song, 소년이여 ( A Boy) is particularly meaningful in which he describes his childhood life as a trainee.

So to wrap it up, this year's MAMA awards was epic.
However, in my opinion, 2009 has not been quite as smooth running for many artists/companies, and with the  boycott from SM, things were a bit tense when 3 members of DBSK showed up. But I've never really favoured SM entertainment, but have been more YG biased.

All in all, I'll definitely be looking forward to next year's MAMA awards which will hopefully be even bigger and better!
