August: Fashion Inspiration

Best thing I love about LookBook is I can get inspiration from real people around the world especially when I'm in a situation where I need to clear out my wardrobe and update my late summer/autumn style. And for some reason, at the moment, I'm so into long oversized drapey tops that can be tucked into shorts at the front, so after a nice little browse around on the net, I found a tonne of inspiration from these four people which I'd like to share.

Gina dons a long simple drapey top with a pair of denim shorts along with an oversized knitted cardigan and sneakers providing a casual and tom-boy feel. This is definitely I'd wear on a normal day to day basis, it shows minimal effort yet maximum style at the same time.
Patrycija however, emits more of a chic vibe with also a simple tee and shorts, but instead is worn with a clean cut boyfriend blazer. This particular inspiration is not just about the outfit but the bright orange clutch that steals your gaze within moments you set eyes on this image, it shows simple accessories like these can really steal the show. This is also a good reminder for me to start hunting for a new clutch!

Alexandra on the other hand exudes a feminine 80's look in which she is seen posing nicely in a white collared buttoned shirt that is tucked within a pair of skinny jeans at the front. I really like how this outfit looks on her, but if I were to wear it, I don't think I'd be able to pull this off as equally well as her... although it's a look to keep in mind!
Lastly, Wendy Ngyuen is a fashion blogger who I recently started following and in my opinion has an incredible sense of style! Her purple heels are definitely a great attempt in colour blocking her outfit and I'm actually in love with her long brown knitted top in the second picture! Most of her fashion stuff she posts are things that I'd wear, so if you are intrigued, you should definitely check her blog out by clicking on her link beneath the pictures!

A D R E N A L I N E

Mischievous behaviour, daredevil rides, sinuous queues, having too much fun it was almost criminal were the components that made my Thorpe Park adventures. It has been so long since I've been to Thorpe Park so it was a nice addition to my summer when the family decided to spontaneously go the night before.

It turns out I'm the wuss of the family since I didn't manage to go on every ride they wanted to.. i.e. The Detonator which is one of those mega drop rides, that hangs you in mid-air for a number of terrifying seconds until gravity gives way.. yea not a huge fan! But I was excited about the roller-coasters!! Although I did feel really sick towards the end...  +_+
Since we had so much fun... we didn't really get a chance to eat while we were there! So we headed towards Central London, China Town for some Malaysian food! Not sure whether it was because I was so hungry, but mann, that was some GOOD FOOD!! I can eat some of that right now.... xP

Wanna break from the world, but the world wanna break you

You got so much to prove
Hoping they approve
The only thing that's true is all you ever do is do
You're moving shoe to shoe but you're not going
You stop growing, the moment that you stay at the top
The only way is to drop
Freefalling down the stairs that you climbed up
Lined up to freely mount the air
But you dare not air drop
Tied up like a hair knot
Hiking down without a chance of stepping on a fair rock
And so, you stand still in a stand-still
Hands still building castles on a sand hill
"Man chill," is what your friends say
But you're not hearing what little men say
Anyway, keep on going, and taste the stars
Keep on growing, and raise the bar
You're living life for the As down to the Zs
After the hill you got a mountain to seize

You are an overachiever
Do what it takes 'til it takes everything you are
You are an overachiever
Do what it takes 'til it takes everything you are
Who can tell?
Your living is an organized hell
The mansion of your mind just an oversized cell
The pressure, everything is done to a measure
In the sea of competition sunk like a treasure
Like a feather falling slow spiraling to the floor
Strung up like a broken violin to your course
Opportunity is knocking at your door
But you never left a welcome mat (it doesn't matter anymore)
Or anyhow, but you're too late to turn back
Fate pushing you into the wall like a thumbtack
Ain't no comebacks in this game of life
Roll the dice again
Roll it once, never twice

Keep on going, and taste the stars
Keep on growing, and raise the bar
You're living life for the As down to the Zs
After one drop you got a fountain to seize

You are an overachiever
Do what it takes 'til it takes everything you are
You are an overachiever
Do what it takes 'til it takes everything you are
You are an overachiever
Do what it takes 'til it takes everything you are

Wanna break from the world, but the world wanna break you
The weight makes your backbone curl up and make you

You are an overachiever
Do what it takes 'til it takes everything you are

Wanna break from the world, but the world wanna break you
The weight makes your backbone curl up and make you

Scottish Sun

Scottish Thistle

So at the end of July, I went back to my birth place-- Dundee, Scotland for a week to pay a visit around town as well as to see my grandparents. And despite my bad memory.. I don't ever recall Scotland being this warm EVER. It was the hottest week that I've experienced since I came back from Hong Kong! I shouldn't be complaining really...  but I wasn't prepared, since I mostly bought my autumn wardrobe along with 2 hoodies thinking I was going to freeze to death! Turns out that was a waste of baggage..

Aside from that though, I got to stroll along the sandy beaches of Dundee, talk a walk in the wild that Scotland is known for and eat really nice seafood! =))

De 10 a 60 Ans

One of my favourite shoots of all time has got to be Vogue Paris' editorial with Hungarian model Eniko Mihalik for 'De 10 à 60 Ans'. These 6 photos show her age from one decade to another and I find it absolutely amazing how physically possible this all is, if you have the right lighting, pose, hair, make-up and photography angles, you can completely transition yourself from a 10 year old to a 60 year old.

Although have to say, she looks a bit too good for a 60 year old! xP

Sticker Photo Fun! O(≧∇≦)O プリクラ~!

One thing that I miss doing in Hong Kong, and despite my growing old age, is taking sticker photos! Although it may seem incredibly childish if you're not familiar with these, its immensely fun and really unleashes your creative side! I managed to take a lot with a variety of people this year, and I'm glad I got to introduce such a concept to my only white friend in HK from uni, Ryan! xP Have to admit though, this 'activity' is not completely suitable for guys... especially those from abroad (including BBCs/ABCs etc.), coz you know, they need to keep their masculinity in tact..

After studying Japanese for year, I found myself understanding more of the options that are given in these purikura machines.. although it's not that hard to understand anyway, I like the fact that I actually know what I've selected.. haha!

Good times indeed!
